RIS Phuket Elementary Students Embark on an Educational Adventure

On Tuesday, March 4th, our Elementary School students at RIS Phuket had an unforgettable and enriching field trip. This adventure combined learning, exploration, and hands-on experiences in three distinct parts, providing students with valuable insights into Thai culture, environmental conservation, and naval operations.

Exploring the "Khok - Nong - Na” Model

The first stop of the trip introduced students to the "Khok - Nong - Na" Model, a Royal Initiative of the Thai King. This innovative agricultural approach integrates the New Theory Agriculture with traditional local wisdom, promoting sustainable land use. Students learned about self-sufficient farming practices, water management, and biodiversity conservation, gaining a deeper appreciation for Thailand's agricultural heritage.

Visit to the Sea Turtle Conservation Center

Next, students visited the Sea Turtle Conservation Center, where they discovered the vital work being done to protect and rehabilitate sea turtles. They learned about different species of turtles, the conservation process from egg incubation to hatchling release, and the challenges these marine creatures face due to pollution and habitat destruction. One of the highlights of this visit was the opportunity to feed some of the turtles, making the experience both interactive and memorable.

Touring the Royal Thai Naval Ship – H.T.M.S. Longlom

The final part of the trip took students aboard the Royal Thai Navy Ship, H.T.M.S. Longlom. Guided by naval officers, students explored the ship’s deck, learned about the various duties of naval personnel, and gained a deeper understanding of maritime defense operations. This eye-opening experience allowed students to appreciate the dedication and discipline required to serve in the Royal Thai Navy.

Grade 5
- “The food on the field trip was great! From the snacks in the van, to the ice cream in the coffee shop and
also the lunch at the clubhouse.” Grade 5

Teachers who accompanied the students also shared their thoughts on the trip:
“It was great to expand our learning outside of the classroom.” Teacher

The field trip was a fantastic opportunity for students to expand their knowledge beyond the classroom, fostering curiosity and appreciation for Thailand's rich heritage, environmental conservation, and naval service. It was a day filled with discovery, inspiration, and unforgettable memories!
